Send-Off Event
On September 10, Team Alberta hosted a celebration in Calgary for the completion of the ENMAX SolAbode. The celebration was the first public showing and official 'send off' of the home to Washington, D.C. for the Solar Decathlon. During the celebration the team had three major announcements to share with visitors. Firstly, the team will be showcasing the ENMAX SolAbode at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In order to transport the home to Vancouver, Western Economic Diversification Canada, announced that they will be providing $150,000 in financial support for the transportation of the home to Washington, D.C., and then directly to Vancouver before returning home to Calgary. Team Alberta also announced a contribution from the Alberta Olympic and Paralympic Secretariat that will enable the solar home to be displayed in Vancouver as part of the Alberta secretariat's programming around the 2010 Winter Olympics.
