David Silburn - Project Architect

David Silburn got involved with the Alberta Solar Decathlon while finishing his Masters in Architecture at University of Calgary. Little did he know it would consume such a large amount of time- but he has managed to graduate, get married, find a home and start renovations all while acting as a principal designer (Project Architect), construction worker and SAIT Polytechnic advisor for the project.

David has been a Building Science/ Environmental consultant for over 10 years and has helped developed the Residential, Multi family & Retrofit programs for Built Green™ Canada while training builders throughout Alberta and B.C to R2000 and LEED for Homes levels of performance. David lead’s SAIT Polytechnic’s Green Building Technologies Applied Research initiative as technical designer, construction manager and full time researcher in the design, construction, development and testing of Net Zero houses, new and innovative building integrated renewable energy technologies as well as advanced material assemblies.
