Established in 1916, SAIT is Canada’s premier polytechnic – providing relevant, skill–oriented education to 79,000 registrants annually. SAIT offers four applied degrees, 64 diploma and certificate programs, 33 apprenticeship trades, and hundreds of continuing education, distance education, and customized corporate training courses.

SAIT helps students to “further their passion” through eight academic schools: Business, Construction, Energy, Health and Public Safety, Hospitality and Tourism, Information and Communications Technologies, Manufacturing and Automation, and Transportation.

SAIT works closely with industry to ensure graduate success and program relevance – the class of 2008 enjoyed a 97 per cent employment rate. More than 1,000 partners serve on SAIT’s 60 program advisory committees.

SAIT is also a founding partner of WorldSkills Calgary 2009. This international competition will bring 1,000 competitors from 40 countries to Calgary this September. SAIT is hosting the Competitors’ Village and seven SAIT participants – the most from any one school in the country – will compete for Team Canada.

SAIT is a leader in applied research and innovation, facilitating projects among industry, students and staff that accelerate industry’s innovation agenda while providing real–world learning experiences for students. In 2008, SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services team established a Green Building Technologies (GBT) program.
