Photovoltaic Power
The SolAbode is equipped with 37 Sanyo HIT-205 solar modules, an installed capacity of 7.6 kWp, which generate the electricity required to operate the home. These modules cover each of the two roof sections. Accompanying each module is an Enphase microinverter. The use of microinverters, as opposed to a centralized inverter, is a major benefit for the SolAbode because of the minor shading introduced by the rooftop patio, a highly desirable architectural feature. With traditional, centralized inverters the shading of one panel would affect the performance of the entire system. With microinverters the consequence of shading is localized to one or two panels.
